Jindal (India) boosts downstream steel capacity for white goods sector

Jindal (India), part of the BC Jindal Group, has added new colour coated steel capacity to better serve India’s rapidly growing white goods sector. The company will supply premium coated steel through OEM partners to brands such as LG, Whirlpool, and Godrej.

Jindal (India) recently commissioned 0.6 mln tons of additional downstream steel capacity at its West Bengal facilities, marking the completion of a major phase of its expansion. The addition increases the company’s total production capacity from 1 mln tons to 1.6 mln tons annually.

Colour-coated steel currently accounts for about 70pct of Jindal’s total sales, with the share expected to rise to 75pct by FY26.

Established in 1952, Jindal (India) operates two plants in Howrah, West Bengal, and produces a wide range of downstream steel and aluminium products, including colour-coated, galvanized, and galvalume sheets, cold-rolled steel, and pipes.
