JSW Steel FY26 crude steel output rises 8pct YoY

JSW Steel reported an 8pct YoY increase in consolidated crude steel production to 30.14 mln tons in FY26, according to a stock exchange filing.

Production from its Indian operations rose 8pct to 29.25 mln tons. Capacity utilization stood at around 92pct excluding Blast Furnace-3 (BF3) and 87pct including BF3, which has been offline at the Vijayanagar plant since September 2025 for an upgrade.

The company also expanded capacity at its Salem unit, where a caster upgrade was completed in January 2026, followed by the commissioning of a new ladle furnace and vacuum degasser in February. After integration, the unit’s capacity increased from 1.0 mln tons per year to 1.15 mln tons per year, effective March 2026.

In addition, JSW Steel transferred its steel business undertaking at Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL) to JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited on 27 March 2026, as part of a joint venture with Japan’s JFE Steel.

In the United States, production at its Ohio operations rose slightly to 0.83 mln tons in FY26, compared with 0.81 mln tons in the previous fiscal year. JSW Steel’s consolidated crude steel capacity currently stands at 35.9 mln tons per year, including 1.5 mln tons in the U.S., with plans to expand to 43.4 mln tons within the next three years.
