Turkish special steel producer Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir) has ordered a Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB) 370++/4 from Kocks as part of a modernization plan to boost reliability and product quality in its Special Bar Quality (SBQ) rolling operations.
The new RSB will replace the existing sizing mill in Kardemir’s SBQ mill, commissioned in 2018, which has an annual capacity of 700,000 tons and produces bars, coils, and wire rod for the automotive, railway, machinery, and construction sectors.
Equipped with Kocks’ 3-roll technology, the system will enable production of straight bars (20-105 mm), bar-in-coil (20-56 mm), and hexagonal bars (20-75 mm) with high dimensional precision. The package also includes the 4D Eagle S measuring system for real-time quality control, automated stand and guide adjustments, and the Bamicon Octopus roll shop management solution.
Installation and commissioning are scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026, with Kocks providing on-site training and technical support.
Founded in 1937, Kardemir operates from Karabuk with an annual production capacity of 3.5 mln tons, producing blooms, billets, rebars, profiles, and other steel products.
