Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) has signed a 10-year contract with Harsco Environmental, a division of Enviri Corporation, to provide metal recovery and slag processing services at LMEL’s integrated steel plant in Maharashtra, India.
Under the agreement, Harsco Environmental will design, build, commission, operate and maintain the metal recovery plant, along with all associated slag processing activities. The contract is expected to create 54 jobs in the region and is scheduled to begin in 2027.
LMEL is expanding rapidly across the minerals and metals value chain. The company operates India’s largest iron ore mine and plans to increase dispatchable capacity to 26 mln tons per annum through a Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) beneficiation plant at Hedri, upgrading low-grade ore (20-35pct Fe) into high-grade concentrate. It is also scaling pellet production from 4 mln tons per annum to 12 mln tons per annum and moving toward vertically integrated, sustainable steel manufacturing.
Established in 1977, Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd has evolved from a steel manufacturer into a vertically integrated group spanning iron ore mining, DRI manufacturing and steel production.
