MITI launches AD probe on galvanized steel imports from China, South Korea & Vietnam

Malaysia has launched an anti-dumping investigation into galvanized steel imports from China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

The probe follows a petition filed on January 7 by CSC Steel Sdn Bhd with the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI). The company alleges that flat-rolled iron or non-alloy steel, plated or coated with zinc using the hot-dip process (galvanized steel coils/sheets), is being sold in Malaysia at prices significantly lower than in the exporting countries.

MITI has invited interested parties to register and request questionnaires in writing by February 21, 2025, with feedback submissions due by March 8, 2025. Under the relevant laws and regulations, a preliminary determination will be made within 120 days of the investigation’s initiation. If the findings confirm dumping practices, the government will impose provisional anti-dumping duties to prevent further harm to the domestic industry.
