Qatar has implemented a hike in customs duties on imports of non-alloy rebar and wire rod to 10pct from the previous 5pct, according to Emiri Decree No. (117) of 2025 published in the Official Gazette in January 2026.
The decision follows GCC approval in June 2025 to extend the increase in customs duties on rebar and wire rod from 5pct to 10pct for a one-year period, although market sources said the higher rate has only recently begun to be applied at Qatari customs. The duty applies to rebar (HS code 7214) and wire rod (HS code 7213).
