Turkey’s scrap import prices fell this week to USD 340-345 per ton CFR, down from USD 345-350 per ton CFR last week, driven by weak steel demand. Turkish steel mills are seeking further price negotiations due to sluggish finished steel sales, but suppliers are reluctant to lower prices further, citing higher collection costs during the winter.
Domestic and overseas finished steel demand remains weak, leading some producers to reduce rebar prices to boost sales.
Over the past week, export prices for Turkish finished steel decreased by USD 5 per ton. Rebar offers stood at USD 565-575 per ton FOB, while wire rod offers remained stable at USD 580-590 per ton FOB.
