Turkey’s imported scrap prices eased slightly this week to USD 360-365 per ton CFR, down from USD 360-370 per ton CFR last week, as slowing finished steel demand kept mills cautious about booking scrap at higher levels.
Suppliers showed little urgency to sell, citing limited availability and higher collection costs during the winter period. With the holiday season approaching, many suppliers prefer to wait for clearer market direction before adjusting prices.
Turkish steel mills continue to push for lower scrap prices amid weak rebar demand. Mills remain in no rush to book cargoes, although market participants expect restocking needs to trigger some purchases in the near term.
In Turkish finished steel segment, export demand remains subdued, prompting Turkish mills to lower offers by around USD 5 per ton week on week. Rebar is currently offered at USD 560-565 per ton FOB, while wire rod is quoted at USD 570-575 per ton FOB.
