Turkey’s imported scrap prices firmed this week, with assessments rising to around USD 370-375 per ton CFR, compared with USD 370 per ton previously.
The uptick came despite subdued buying activity, as sellers, particularly from the US, held a firm stance amid higher freight and collection costs and tighter winter supply.
Turkish mills continued to push back against higher prices due to weak finished steel demand, though some restocking needs prompted limited purchases.
In the finished steel market, conditions remained soft at home and abroad, keeping export offers largely unchanged despite higher scrap costs.
Turkish rebar export offers are in the range of USD 560-565 per ton FOB, while wire rod stood at USD 570-575 per ton FOB.
