Turkey’s scrap import prices remained largely unchanged this week, as weak finished steel demand and cautious buying continued to weigh on the market. Turkey’s scrap import prices were assessed steady at USD 370-375 per ton CFR.
Turkish steelmakers continued to face sluggish finished steel sales in both domestic and export markets, limiting their appetite for raw material purchases. At the same time, scrap suppliers showed little urgency to sell, supported by poor winter collection rates and more attractive demand in their home markets. As a result, market conditions point to broadly stable imported scrap prices in the near term.
In the export market, Turkish long steel offers were mostly unchanged. Rebar export offers were reported at USD 555-560 per ton FOB, while wire rod offers were heard at USD 565-570 per ton FOB.
