Tenaris invests in solar project to cut emissions at Calarasi plant

Tenaris has inaugurated its first solar energy park in Romania, marking a major step in its renewable energy strategy. The 20 MW facility, located in Calarasi, will supply electricity to the company’s steel shop through photovoltaic panels.

The project represents a total investment of USD 21.5 mln, with Tenaris funding 70pct and the remaining 30pct supported by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, which promotes solar and wind energy investments across Europe.

According to the company, the investment plays a strategic role in offering low-carbon products and supporting the global energy transition. The solar park is expected to reduce indirect emissions and contribute to customers’ decarbonization goals.

The Calarasi plant is part of Tenaris’s broader global push for cleaner energy. Other renewable energy projects include solar parks in Italy and China, as well as two wind farms under construction in Argentina.
