Tenaris has commissioned a new automated inspection line at TuboCaribe, its production center in Cartagena, strengthening operational safety, product quality, and efficiency, the company announced in a press release.
The new line automates hydrostatic testing and inspection activities, optimizing workflows and improving shop-floor working conditions. As part of the upgrade, the inspection area was expanded from around 21,500 to 32,300 square feet, enhancing mobility, organization, and coordination.
Operations are now carried out in a fully controlled environment, where pipes are moved automatically and inspected using ultrasonic sensors to detect potential defects. Direct manual handling has been eliminated, allowing personnel to focus on quality assurance and process control rather than physical pipe movement, the company said.
