U.S. Steel Kosice, Slovakia’s largest steel producer, has signed a three-year contract with Harsco Environmental, a division of Enviri Corporation, for scrap cleaning services.
Harsco has also entered into a five-year agreement with Belgian lime producer Carmeuse for briquetting operations at the Kosice site.
The projects aim to enhance sustainability and efficiency. Harsco’s briquetting process will recycle lime production byproducts into reusable resources, cutting carbon emissions while avoiding additional logistics.
For U.S. Steel Kosice, scrap cleaning will improve furnace yield, reduce contaminants, optimize carbon management, and deliver more consistent steel quality at lower cost.
U.S. Steel Kosice has an annual steel production capacity of 5 million tons. The company produces hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized steel coils.
