Vallourec, a global leader in premium seamless tubular solutions, has received a new order from Petrobras for more than 30 units of its Submagnetico Free Flow Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG). The equipment will be produced and installed in Brazil’s offshore pre-salt fields.
The Submagnetico Free Flow technology applies a magnetic field to extracted fluids, reducing the formation of inorganic scaling in production strings. This innovation is expected to lower costs by minimizing well cleaning interventions, reducing the use of scale inhibitors, and limiting production downtime.
Co-developed with Petrobras, the solution has successfully completed a full range of qualification tests, including vibration, shock, and pressure assessments, as well as API and ISO connection standards.
