Al Jazeera commences construction of new rolling mill in Abu Dhabi

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group and Al Jazeera Steel Products have begun the construction of a new rolling mill in Abu Dhabi, with an investment of AED 250 million (USD 68 mln).

Spanning an expansive area of 210,000 square meters within KEZAD, this state-of-the-art mill is poised to drive technological advancements, bolster steel manufacturing capabilities, and meet the escalating demand for high-quality steel products, as stated in a press release by KEZAD Group.

The newly established mill will specialize in processing billets and blooms in low- to medium-carbon steel, with an impressive annual capacity of 450,000 tons of beams. Designed with future growth in mind, the rolling mill will have the potential to produce premium rails that comply with stringent international norms, including head-hardened rails, according to the equipment supplier, Pomini Long Rolling Mills.

Al Jazeera Steel Products Co is strategically targeting the rail sector, as the region embarks on ambitious plans to develop a GCC rail network connecting the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. Consequently, there will be a burgeoning demand for railway steel parts, making the mill’s rail production capabilities especially significant for the region’s infrastructure development.
