AM/NS India to improve steelmaking efficiency at Hazira plant

India’s ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS India), has entered into an agreement with Danieli Corus for the supply of three sublance-based BOF process control systems. These systems will be installed in the three 350-ton converters at the greenfield BOF shop located in the Hazira plant.

Effective process control in the BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace) is crucial for optimizing steelmaking operations in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The implementation of these systems is expected to reduce converter tap-to-tap time, increasing plant output and enabling higher scrap input while minimizing hot metal and flux consumption. Additionally, the number of heats requiring downgrading or repair will be significantly reduced.

This contract marks the sixth project in India for Danieli Corus, following previous installations at JSW Steel’s Toranagallu and Dolvi plants, and JSPL’s Angul plant. With this deal, the total number of Danieli Corus sublance systems sold in India reaches 15, out of a global supply of 150 systems provided by the Italian equipment supplier.
