Jindal Stainless commissions melt shop in Indonesia

Jindal Stainless has commissioned a 1.2 mln tons per year stainless steel melt shop in Indonesia through its joint venture, ahead of schedule, the company said.

Following the commissioning, the company’s total melting capacity will increase to 4.2 mln tons per annum, including 3 mln tons per year in India.

As part of its expansion strategy, Jindal Stainless is also planning to commission a 1.1 mln tons per annum hot rolled annealed pickled line by Q4 FY27 and a 0.17 mln tons per year cold rolling facility by Q2 FY27 at its Jajpur plant in Odisha.

In addition, the company is planning to expand cold rolling capacities at its Hisar and Kharagpur facilities, with commissioning expected by Q2 FY28.

Following these expansions, Jindal Stainless aims to increase its cold rolling capacity to 2.67 mln tons per year by FY28 from 2.05 mln tons per year in FY26. The company is targeting sales volumes of around 3.5 mln tons per year by FY29, supported by growing demand for value-added stainless steel products.

Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has an annual melt capacity of 4.2 mln tons. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India, Spain, and Indonesia, along with a global network spanning 12 countries. Its product portfolio includes slabs, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
