Kardemir raises long steel prices on higher scrap costs

Turkish steelmaker Kardemir has increased prices for long steel products in its latest sales round, citing higher scrap costs.

According to the latest price list, 12-32 mm rebar is offered at TRY 25,915 (USD 584) per ton EXW, up from TRY 24,650 (USD 559) per ton in the previous sales round earlier this month.

Wire rod prices were also raised by USD 20 per ton. 5.5 mm SAE 1006 grade is now offered at USD 617 per ton EXW, while SAE 1008-1010 grades are offered at USD 607 per ton EXW.

The increase follows a rise in scrap import prices, which climbed from around USD 375 per ton CFR last week to approximately USD 390 per ton CFR this week.

Founded in 1937, Kardemir is a major steel player in Turkey with a production capacity of 3.5 mln tons per year. The company produces blooms, billets, rebars, wire rods, profiles along with other steel products. The company’s production facilities are located in Karabuk.
