Turkish coated steel exports to the UK face tighter quota limits following a review by the UK’s Trade Remedies Authority (TRA).
According to the notice, the TRA has recommended introducing a country-specific quota for Turkey on category 4 products (metallic coated sheet), after finding that Turkish shipments exceeded the threshold for developing country exemption status. As a result, exports in this segment will be subject to stricter quota limits, with higher tariffs applied once quotas are exhausted.
In parallel, the TRA maintained existing TRQs on category 4 (metallic coated sheet) and category 7 (quarto plates), citing continued domestic production and the need to protect the UK steel industry.
The authority also revised quotas for category 12A (alloy merchant bars and light sections), removing certain product codes where no UK production was identified.
The updated measures will take effect from April 1, 2026.
