Mobarakeh and Khuzestan Steel plants hit again in second wave of airstrikes

Iranian steel producers Mobarakeh Steel Company and Khuzestan Steel Company have been targeted in a second wave of U.S./Israel airstrikes, according to media reports, with the latest attacks hitting internal production facilities.

Unlike the earlier strikes, which affected storage and power infrastructure of Mobarakeh Steel, the latest attacks reportedly targeted manufacturing workshops and key operational units.

Mobarakeh Steel said in a statement that several parts of its facilities were struck late Tuesday night, causing significant damage. The attack also affected its subsidiary, Sefid Dasht Steel, a producer of sponge iron (DRI).

The company noted that only limited personnel were present at the time due to precautionary measures implemented after the first attack, with only minor injuries reported.

Khuzestan Steel was also hit, with damage reported to parts of its facilities. The company had already suspended operations following earlier strikes on its direct reduction and steelmaking units.

Mobarakeh Steel is Iran’s leading flat steel producer, while Khuzestan Steel is a key billet producer and exporter. Market sources indicate that operations at both sites remain halted pending safety assessments.
