Primetals Technologies has appointed Koji Sakatani as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Yoshiharu Ikeda, who is retiring.
Sakatani brings extensive experience in the metals and heavy industry sector, having held various senior roles at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Most recently, he served as Vice President for Plants and Infrastructure Systems, and previously held strategic leadership positions within Primetals.
He will also assume the role of Chief Financial Officer on an interim basis following the retirement of current CFO Andreas Weinhengst.
The company said the leadership transition comes as Primetals continues to focus on technological innovation and decarbonization in steel production, including developments in automation, hydrogen-based solutions and electrification.
Primetals Technologies, headquartered in the UK, provides engineering, plant equipment and lifecycle services across the metals value chain.
