Utva Silosi AD Kovin, a producer of electric-resistance welded (ERW) tubes, has selected Danieli to supply a new ERW tube production line at its facility in Serbia.
The new mill, to be provided by Danieli Centro Tube, will produce tubes with outside diameters of up to 50 mm and thickness of up to 3 mm. The product range will include structural tubes and high-precision grades for automotive applications.
The line is designed to operate at speeds exceeding 160 m/min and will incorporate advanced automation systems to ensure high productivity and consistent quality.
It will feature continuous coil unwinding via a double-mandrel decoiler with strip joining for uninterrupted operation. Tube welding will be carried out using a latest-generation high-frequency welder and dedicated welding stand. Downstream equipment will include sizing stands and Turks-head shaping and straightening units, enabling production of round, square and rectangular sections.
The line will also include an in-line non-destructive testing (NDT) system, a high-performance flying saw for precision cutting, and a lance-type bundling system with automatic strapping.
The project is currently in the design phase, with start-up scheduled for the first half of 2027.
