Egypt is reviewing a proposal by China’s Henan Zhongfu Industrial to establish a USD 2 bln aluminium manufacturing complex in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
The project, discussed during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, will be located in East Port Said and span around one mln square metres.
The facility is expected to create about 3,000 jobs and support the development of downstream aluminium industries, targeting both domestic demand and export markets.
Authorities said the investment would strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional industrial and logistics hub, while supporting supply chains across Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
The project also aims to facilitate technology transfer and expand local production of value-added aluminium products, including packaging materials, battery foil and automotive sheets.
