ArcelorMittal restarts galvanizing line in Flemalle

ArcelorMittal Belgium restarted its Galva 5 hot-dip galvanizing line in Flemalle after four years of inactivity, expanding the company’s metallic-coated steel production capabilities in Europe.

The restart follows ArcelorMittal’s acquisition of the line in July 2025 and completion of a modernization program covering the galvanizing line, pickling section, zinc bath, coil handling equipment, and digital infrastructure.

According to the company, the line will strengthen supply of metallic-coated steel products in thicker gauges for European industrial customers.

Galva 5 is designed to process hot-rolled coils up to 6.35 mm thick and 1,880 mm wide. The line is integrated with ArcelorMittal Belgium’s supply chain, processing hot-rolled coils produced in Ghent.

The galvanized products are intended for applications including road safety equipment, HVAC systems, industrial uses, and automotive components.

ArcelorMittal Belgium is part of the global ArcelorMittal Group and operates integrated flat steel production facilities in Belgium serving automotive, construction, and industrial markets across Europe.
