Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) announced increases in domestic steel prices for June 2026 shipments, citing higher raw material costs, rising international steel prices, and improving market conditions.
The company raised prices for major flat steel products by TWD 1,200 (USD 38) per ton, including HRC, plates and CRC, as well as hot-dip galvanized products for construction applications. Prices for electro-galvanized and certain galvanized products for appliance and computer applications were increased by TWD 1,000 (USD 32) per ton, while electric steel prices increased by TWD 500 (USD 16) per ton.
CSC said the global steel market continued to recover amid stronger seasonal demand, rising energy and freight costs, and tighter steel supply linked to reduced exports from the Middle East.
The company also noted that higher iron ore and metallurgical coal prices continued to support high steelmaking costs. According to CSC, iron ore prices approached USD 113 per ton, while coking coal prices rose to around USD 240 per ton.
CSC highlighted that U.S. steelmaker Nucor raised HRC prices for the sixteenth consecutive week, with domestic prices exceeding USD 1,170 per ton, while Vietnamese producers Hoa Phat and Formosa Ha Tinh increased HRC prices by USD 50-58 per ton. The company also noted that China’s Baosteel continued raising prices in its latest sales round.
According to CSC, imported HR and CR steel prices in Taiwan increased by a combined USD 80-90 per ton over the past month, reflecting the broader upward trend in global steel prices.
