Tenaris to boost pipe production with new investment at Ontario unit

Tenaris has announced investment of more than CAD 300 mln (USD 217 mln) at its Sault Ste. Marie Industrial Centre in Ontario, Canada, supported by the federal and Ontario governments.

The investment will expand production capacity, broaden the company’s product range, and improve productivity through installation of new equipment across seamless and electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe manufacturing operations.

The project includes upgrades to hot rolling, stretch reduction, heat treatment, testing, and finishing facilities, in addition to installation of a new threading line for semi-premium and API connections.

According to the company, the investment is aimed at strengthening domestic supply of OCTG and line pipe products for Canada’s oil and gas sector, including shale, thermal, and offshore drilling applications.

Tenaris is a global manufacturer of steel pipes and related services for the energy industry, supplying tubular products and technical solutions for oil and gas drilling, production and industrial applications.
