Turkish steel producer Kardemir has successfully commissioned the new KOCKS Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB) line at its Bar and Coil Rolling Mill, marking the completion of a modernization project aimed at enhancing its special steel production capabilities.
The company announced that the new-generation KOCKS RSB line has achieved first production and will support the manufacture of Special Bar Quality (SBQ) products and thick coils with improved dimensional accuracy, higher efficiency, and increased value-added product capability.
According to Kardemir, the investment is expected to strengthen its product portfolio and support the company’s position in export markets while contributing to its quality improvement targets.
The project follows Kardemir’s order placed with Germany-based KOCKS in October 2025 for an RSB 370++/4 unit as part of the modernization of its SBQ rolling operations. The new equipment replaced the existing sizing mill at the company’s 700,000-ton-per-year SBQ mill, which produces bars, coils and wire rod for the automotive, railway, machinery and construction sectors.
The KOCKS RSB line is equipped with three-roll technology and advanced measurement and automation systems designed to improve rolling precision, product quality and operational reliability.
Established in 1937, Kardemir is one of Turkey’s major steel producers with annual production capacity of around 3.5 mln tons. The company manufactures billets, blooms, rebar, profiles, and other steel products at its Karabuk-based facilities.
