Three workers were injured following an unexpected explosion inside an electric arc furnace at Hascelik’s steel plant in Osmaneli, Bilecik, Turkey, on June 12.
According to local reports, an explosion occurred in the production area of the facility at around 09:00 local time. Emergency response teams, including medical personnel, firefighters and gendarmerie units, were dispatched to the site.
In a subsequent statement, Hascelik confirmed that three employees were injured in the incident and stated that there were no fatalities. The company said the injured workers were receiving medical treatment and that their condition was being closely monitored.
Hascelik added that investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing in coordination with the relevant authorities. The company emphasized that employee health and safety remain its top priority and that all necessary technical assessments are being conducted.
Hascelik is a major exporter of bright steel and a leading Turkish producer of hot-rolled special steel, cold-worked bright steel, and grinding balls.
