Pakistan imported 233,954 tons of finished steel products in May 2026, down 33.3pct compared with the same month last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Imports also declined by 28.6pct compared with April, reflecting weaker buying activity and subdued domestic demand.
Despite the sharp monthly decline, cumulative finished steel imports during the January-May period reached approximately 1.69 mln tons, up 1.3pct YoY.
