ArcelorMittal supplies XCarb steel to Tubao for low-carbon hydraulic solutions

French water infrastructure specialist Tubao has begun using ArcelorMittal’s XCarb recycled and renewably produced steel in its hot-dip galvanized metallic tubes, supporting efforts to decarbonize hydraulic infrastructure.

The company said the use of XCarb steel reduces embedded CO2 emissions in its galvanized tubes by up to 60pct compared with conventional metallic tubes, while maintaining structural strength and corrosion resistance.

Based in Normandy, Tubao manufactures water storage and hydraulic infrastructure solutions for the civil engineering sector. The company said the move will help meet increasing sustainability requirements in public tenders and infrastructure projects.

According to Tubao, its solutions deliver up to 60pct lower emissions than standard steel tubes and up to 70pct lower emissions compared with traditional concrete alternatives. The products are supported by verified environmental data under the FDES/INIES certification system and retain full recyclability at end of life.

ArcelorMittal is one of the world’s largest steel and mining companies, operating primary steelmaking facilities in 14 countries. In 2025, the company produced 55.6 mln tons of crude steel and 48.8 mln tons of iron ore.
