JSW Steel reports higher crude steel production in Q1 FY2027

JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 6.59 mln tons in the first quarter of FY2027, up 3pct YoY and 2pct from the previous quarter. Indian operations accounted for 6.35 mln tons, increasing 3pct from 6.14 mln tons in the same period last year.

The company said production growth was partly impacted by the planned shutdown of Blast Furnace No. 3 (BF3) at its Vijayanagar plant for capacity expansion. The furnace resumed hot metal production on June 23, 2026. Excluding the impact of the BF3 shutdown, crude steel production in the quarter increased by around 15pct YoY, supported by the full ramp-up of JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd. (JVML) operations and improved utilization at the Dolvi plant.

Capacity utilization at the company’s Indian operations, excluding the idled BF3 capacity, stood at approximately 94pct during the quarter.

JSW Steel said its combined crude steel production capacity currently stands at 37.9 mln tons per year, including 4.5 mln tons through the JSW JFE Steel joint venture, with plans to expand total capacity to 54.8 mln tons per year over the next four years.
