Henan Jiyuan to commission four-strand jumbo round caster

China’s Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel has awarded Danieli a contract to supply a new four-strand bow-type continuous casting machine (CCM) for its steelworks in Henan province.

The new caster, scheduled to start up in 2027, will feature an 18.5-meter radius and produce round blooms ranging from 600 mm to 1,300 mm in diameter. The products will mainly consist of alloy steel grades for the energy and marine sectors.

Danieli’s scope includes the supply of the caster’s core equipment, together with electrical and automation systems. The project follows the successful commissioning of a two-strand jumbo round caster supplied by Danieli at the same plant in 2023 and expands the existing design to four strands.

The investment is expected to increase Jiyuan’s production capacity for large-diameter alloy steel blooms while meeting growing demand for high-quality special steel products in the domestic market.

Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel Group, established in 1958 and based in Henan Province, is one of China’s leading special steel producers. The company has an annual steel production capacity of around 5 mln tons, manufacturing a wide range of special steel bars, wire rods and other high-grade steel products for the automotive, energy and engineering sectors.
