Drydocks World completes major ship recycling project in Dubai

Drydocks World has completed the recycling of an Aframax tanker at its Dubai facility, recovering more than 20,000 tons of steel, machinery and other materials for reuse, the company said.

The project, carried out for APT Global Marine, is one of the largest and most complex ship recycling operations undertaken in the UAE. The vessel arrived with extensive fire damage, more than 1,000 tons of hardened cargo residues and around 2,500 tons of fuel oil residue, requiring specialized engineering and environmental management.

Completed over 120 days, the project recovered approximately 14,500 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, 3,500 tons of machinery, piping and cables, along with hazardous materials and hydrocarbon residues for appropriate treatment.

The company is an approved green ship recycling facility under the UAE Ship Recycling Regulation and aims to expand its presence in the global ship recycling market.
