Vallourec has secured a contract from offshore engineering company Allseas to supply seamless carbon steel line pipes and thermal insulation coating for the Atapu 2 offshore oil and gas project in Brazil, developed by the Unitized ATAPU consortium operated by Petrobras.
The contract covers the supply of 143 km of rigid risers and flowlines, representing approximately 19,000 tons of seamless line pipe. The pipes will be manufactured at Vallourec’s Jeceaba facility in Brazil, while thermal insulation coating will be carried out at its Serra plant.
The Atapu 2 development is located in the Santos Basin, around 230 km offshore Rio de Janeiro at water depths of 2,000-2,350 metres. The project will comprise 18 wells connected to a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit through rigid risers.
Vallourec said the contract supports its strategy of providing integrated tubular solutions by combining domestic pipe manufacturing with thermal insulation coating capabilities following its acquisition of Thermotite do Brasil.
