Trasteel completes energy efficiency upgrade at Profilmec tube plant

Trasteel has completed an energy efficiency and digitalization upgrade at its subsidiary Profilmec Group’s steel tube and profiles plant in Cuneo, Italy, as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency across its industrial operations.

The project, completed in early July, was implemented in collaboration with ABB and CIEB Nuova and included the installation of a new low-voltage electrical switchboard equipped with advanced network analyzers, digital protection systems and centralized monitoring.

The new system provides real-time monitoring of energy consumption and electrical performance, while supporting predictive maintenance and enabling operators to identify potential issues before they affect production.

The investment forms part of a broader expansion of the Cuneo facility and Trasteel’s strategy to improve energy efficiency, digitalization and operational performance across its industrial assets.

Profilmec produces cold-formed, high-frequency welded steel tubes and profiles, while Trasteel operates steel trading and industrial activities across more than 60 countries.
