Salzgitter divests machinery business as part of portfolio restructuring

Salzgitter Group has agreed to sell Klockner DESMA Elastomertechnik GmbH to German-French industrial group NAME & MAWI Partners (NMP) as part of its ongoing portfolio restructuring.

The transaction is expected to be completed in autumn 2026, subject to customary conditions. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Salzgitter said the divestment follows a strategic review and supports implementation of its Salzgitter AG 2030 strategy, which includes active management of the group’s business portfolio.

DESMA Elastomertechnik, part of Salzgitter’s Technology Business Unit, manufactures injection moulding machinery and related production systems for rubber and silicone products.

NMP operates 10 companies with around 500 employees across Germany, France, Switzerland and Slovakia. The group said the acquisition will support the expansion of its production capacity and international sales network, particularly in the US, India and China.

Salzgitter AG is one of Germany’s leading steel firm, producing flat and long steel products, tubes and engineered solutions for the automotive, construction, energy and industrial sectors.
