Kocaer Celik receives environmental approval for integrated steel project

Turkey’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has approved the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Kocaer Celik’s planned integrated steelmaking and rolling mill investment in Aliaga, Izmir.

The TRY 3.6 bln (USD 75.6 mln) project will be developed over an area of approximately 234,700 square metres and will include facilities with annual production capacity of 1.25 mln tons of liquid steel, along with a new rolling mill capable of producing 500,000 tons per year.

The investment is expected to employ around 800 people during construction and create approximately 600 jobs once operational.

Kocaer Celik operates three steel profile plants in Aliaga with a combined annual capacity of 800,000 tons, along with a 180,000 tons per year steel service center and a 100,000 tons per year galvanizing facility.
