Mexico’s TYASA has completed the start-up of its new 350,000 tons per year special bar quality (SBQ) plant in Ixtaczoquitlan, Orizaba, with the Danieli-supplied complex now in operation.
The new complex includes a hot-rolling mill equipped with Danieli’s four-pass, four-roll Draw Sizing Danieli (DSD) sizing block, as well as straightening and peeling lines and a water-treatment plant. A new drawing line and heat-treatment line are still in the final stages of erection.
Cold commissioning began in early April 2026, followed by the first hot billet rolling on May 25. The first bar processed through the DSD sizing block was produced on July 6, confirming dimensional accuracy and stable operating parameters, according to Danieli.
The Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) was signed on August 4, confirming the plant’s compliance with contractual requirements. The plant has already produced sellable SBQ products, including bars and flats.
The project has now entered the performance-testing phase, during which production capacity, energy efficiency, operational continuity and metallurgical quality will be assessed at increasing production volumes.
TYASA is a family-owned Mexican steel producer manufacturing special steels, flat and coated steel products, as well as steel for the construction industry.
