Jindal Steel has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) to establish a Centre of Excellence focused on high-strength, value-added and value-engineered steel products and solutions.
The centre, to be established at the IIT Hyderabad campus in Telangana, will focus on developing and demonstrating advanced steel applications for infrastructure, engineering, construction and other industrial sectors.
The partnership will combine IIT Hyderabad’s technical expertise with Jindal Steel’s manufacturing, metallurgical and engineering capabilities to develop applications for high-strength and value-added steels. The initiative aims to promote steel solutions offering lower material consumption, reduced structural weight, faster construction and improved durability.
Jindal Steel said the centre will focus on accelerating the adoption of advanced steel solutions in real-world projects and expanding the use of high-strength and value-engineered steel across India’s infrastructure and industrial sectors.
The initiative follows a similar agreement between Jindal Steel and IIT Delhi earlier this year to establish a nodal Centre of Excellence for structural steel research, design innovation and skill development.
Jindal Steel Ltd. is a major Indian steel, mining, and infrastructure company operating integrated plants in Angul, Raigarh, and Patratu, producing a broad range of products including sponge iron, rebars, wire rod, plates, HRC, beams, sections, and rails, including head-hardened rails.
