Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded McDermott a mega engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting Project.
The contract covers the complete EPCI scope for a new surface pressure boosting facility, including the construction and installation of an offshore jacket and topside, as well as associated brownfield modifications. McDermott’s Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) consortium will execute the project.
McDermott classifies contracts valued at more than USD 1 bln as mega contracts. The project is part of ADNOC’s Umm Shaif Long Term Development Plan, which aims to maximize gas recovery and increase production from the field.
Engineering and project management will be carried out from McDermott’s UAE offices, while fabrication will take place at the QMW joint venture yard in Qingdao, China.
Upon completion, the topside is expected to rank among the heaviest offshore modules ever installed in the Middle East.
