Welspun Corp and Perma-Pipe International Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the developers of Jordan’s National Water Carrier Project and the Jordanian government to establish pipe manufacturing and advanced coating facilities in Jordan.
The companies plan to form a joint venture to develop and operate an integrated pipe manufacturing and coating platform serving water, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects in Jordan and surrounding markets. The proposed partnership will combine Welspun’s large-diameter steel pipe manufacturing capabilities with Perma-Pipe’s expertise in anti-corrosion coatings, insulation and engineered piping solutions. The facilities are intended to support the National Water Carrier Project, which will transport desalinated water from the Gulf of Aqaba to communities across Jordan through a major pipeline network.
Perma-Pipe and Welspun are currently working with the project developers on technical, commercial, financing and regulatory requirements, including facility design, production capacity and coating technologies. Details on the joint venture’s investment, ownership structure, capacity and project timeline will be announced after definitive agreements are completed.
The proposed facilities are also intended to serve future water, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects across Jordan and the wider Levant region, potentially including reconstruction-related demand in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
