Kardemir expands heavy profile steel range with new grades

Turkish steelmaker Kardemir has expanded its heavy profile steel range with S355JR and S355J2 structural steel grades for applications requiring high strength and load-bearing capacity.

Kardemir said it has achieved sustainable production of the two grades in selected sections, increasing its ability to meet requirements for different structural steel projects.

The new grades are designed for wide-span steel construction projects requiring high structural strength and load-bearing capacity. They have already started being used in projects such as aircraft hangars.

Kardemir said the new heavy profiles will be supplied to both domestic and international customers, supporting the local production of higher-value structural steel products.

The company said it will continue developing new steel grades and products in line with changing market and customer requirements. Founded in 1937, Kardemir has annual production capacity of around 3.5 mln tons, producing billets, blooms, rebar, wire rod and profiles at its facilities in Karabuk.
