Vietnam’s VinMetal has signed an agreement with Danieli to design, manufacture and supply core equipment for a rail and section rolling line at its integrated steel complex in Ha Tinh, Vietnam.
Under the contract, Danieli will also commission the equipment for the line, which is designed to produce more than 700,000 tons of steel products annually. The project will enable VinMetal to expand into railway rails and structural sections for transport infrastructure, industrial facilities, bridges, ports and logistics projects.
The line will incorporate Danieli technologies for rail rolling, precision profile sizing and rail-head hardening, designed to control product dimensions and mechanical properties while improving wear resistance and service life.
The project forms part of VinMetal’s plan to develop specialized steel products for Vietnam’s high-speed and urban railway projects and other major infrastructure developments, helping strengthen domestic supply and reduce reliance on imports.
VinMetal is developing its integrated steel complex in the Vung Ang Economic Zone in Ha Tinh, with planned capacity of 6 mln tons per year in the first phase and a longer-term target of 20 mln tons per year in the second phase.
