Jindal Ferrous Limited (JFL) has commissioned its first integrated steelmaking complex in Jajpur, Odisha, following an investment of more than USD 527 mln.
The facility was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and includes a 2.2 mln tons per year steel melt shop designed to produce carbon steel slabs and HRC.
The integrated complex comprises a blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace, sinter plant and casting facilities, supported by Level 2 automation systems. The company has also entered into a technical collaboration with Japan’s JFE Steel to support production ramp-up and product quality.
The facility incorporates systems to recycle metallurgical waste into the sinter plant and utilize process gases, with a stated zero-discharge approach. Jindal Ferrous, formerly known as JSL Ferrous, is backed by the Jindal Stainless Group and focuses on carbon steel products, including slabs, pig iron and HRC. The new complex expands the group’s presence in carbon steel manufacturing.
