McDermott International has started steel fabrication for Adnoc’s SARB Deep Gas Development Project, marking the beginning of manufacturing for key offshore structures and pipeline infrastructure under an estimated USD 500 mln engineering, procurement and construction contract.
The project covers two unmanned wellhead platforms and a 60 km, 24-inch subsea carbon steel gas export pipeline designed to transport gas from high-pressure reservoirs around 120 km offshore Abu Dhabi.
The platforms will be remotely operated from Arzanah Island, while the pipeline will transport gas to processing facilities on Das Island. The project is scheduled to become operational by June 2029, with capacity to deliver up to 200 mln standard cubic feet of gas per day.
McDermott’s Jebel Ali fabrication facility in the UAE handles steel plate cutting, pipe and girder fabrication, welding and other offshore construction work. The facility has an annual throughput capacity of up to 50,000 tons and serves projects across the Middle East and India.
