UAE’s APL Apollo Tubes, a wholly owned subsidiary of India’s APL Apollo Tubes, has launched a new Direct Forming Technology (DFT) line at its plant in Umm Al Quwain (UAQ), according to a company official’s announcement on social media.
DFT enables the production of customized hollow sections within the mill range without modifying the roll.
The new line, supplied by the Italian company Olimpia 80, can produce hollow sections in sizes ranging from 50 x 50 mm to 150 x 150 mm. The company anticipates significant improvements in delivery times from its new plant.
The UAQ factory of APL Apollo has a total annual tube production capacity of 400,000 tons.
