Cobra IS, a subsidiary of Vinci, has been awarded a contract by SMS Group GmbH to perform piping and mechanical works at Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe’s production plant in Duisburg, Germany.
The contract is valued at EUR 74 mln (USD 80.6 mln).
The Duisburg facility, with an annual production capacity of 2.5 mln tons of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), is the first in Germany designed to operate solely with green hydrogen. This project represents a significant step toward reducing the industry’s carbon footprint, potentially saving up to 3.5 mln tons of CO2 annually, according to Vinci.
