Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports dropped by 43.7pct month-on-month and plunged by 50pct YoY to approximately 155,000 tons in May 2024, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
In the first five months of this year, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports totaled about 1.16 mln tons, reflecting a YoY decrease of 31.7pct. Billet imports from Russia were at about 236,000 tons, followed by Algeria with approximately 163,000 tons, and Indonesia with around 155,000 tons.
