ArcelorMittal Poland placed an order in 2021 with Primetals Technologies for a gas cleaning plant for its blast furnace No. 2 in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland. Recently, ArcelorMittal granted the final acceptance certificate (FAC) to Primetals Technologies for this project, part of the “Smarter Steels for People and Planet” initiative aimed at reducing environmental impact.
The gas cleaning plant is crucial for ensuring emissions from the blast furnace meet environmental standards. It includes a complete system from furnace offtakes to the existing gas network, featuring key components such as a cyclone, wet scrubber, and demisting vessel. This has enabled ArcelorMittal Dabrowa Gornicza (AM DG) to increase dry dust recovery for recycling and reduce wastewater processing needs, improving energy efficiency and lowering maintenance labor costs.
Construction was carried out by consortium partner Mostostal Zabrze Realizacje Przemyslowe (MZRP) within a 90-day shutdown window, with major units built parallel to ongoing blast furnace operations and installed using a 1,000-ton crane.
As the leading steel producer in Poland, ArcelorMittal operates six production plants in the south and specializes in various products, including heavy profiles and 120-meter-long rails at the Dabrowa Gornicza plant.
