IMI to begin shipbuilding operations in 2024

Saudi Arabia will begin shipbuilding operations this year, Suliman Almazroua, CEO of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), said. This initiative, centered in Ras Al-Khair in eastern Saudi Arabia, involves collaboration with Hyundai, Bahri, and Aramco, according to Khaleej Mag.

At the core of this effort is the International Maritime Industries (IMI), the largest shipyard in the Middle East and North Africa, spanning 12 mln square meters. IMI, a joint venture between Aramco, Bahri, Lamprell, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, specializes in constructing, maintaining, and repairing commercial vessels, including oil tankers, bulk carriers, offshore support vessels, and offshore drilling rigs.
